Day 29 – Reach In..Reach Out

TGSToday our target is to have a passion for evangelism and outreach. I can’t help but think about the parable of “The Good Samaritan”.

In Luke the Bible states,

33-35 “A Samaritan traveling the road came on him. When he saw the man’s condition, his heart went out to him. He gave him first aid, disinfecting and bandaging his wounds. Then he lifted him onto his donkey, led him to an inn, and made him comfortable. In the morning he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take good care of him. If it costs any more, put it on my bill—I’ll pay you on my way back.’

36 “What do you think? Which of the three became a neighbor to the man attacked by robbers?”

37 “The one who treated him kindly,” the religion scholar responded.

Jesus said, “Go and do the same.”

Sometimes we can mistaken evangelism as being a huge event where corporately people come together and go and pass out fliers into the community. But we see clearly here in this passage of Scripture, that evangelism has more to do with what we have, what we do with it, and who we give it to.

The same way Christ gave to us His unconditional love, do we transmit that when we see the need or is the love that we pour out conditional? When I think about God’s love, one of my favorite passages of scripture found in I Corinthians 13, AKA: “THE BOOK OF LOVE”, love is described as it,”Keeps no record of wrongs”.

Let’s take time out today and ask God to help us be sensitive to the need around us and meet any need we come across on a daily basis. We never should be too busy or caught up in our own agendas to see and meet the many needs we face.
