Day 28- The BLOOD of Jesus

Exodus 12:23 “But when he sees the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe, the Lord will pass over your home.”

passover-jpgRecently, in my devotion on the book of Exodus, the scripture above really stood out to me. The story of the Passover is a very familiar one. Moses commanded the elders of Israel to pick out a lamb or young goat, sacrifice it and brush the blood at the top and sides of the doorframes of their houses. Then the angel of death would not enter their home and would pass over their home.

Reading this story, I thought about the people that did not have the blood smeared on their doorframe. Verse 30 says during the night their was loud wailing throughout the land of Egypt and there was not a single house where someone had not died.

Immediately, I thought about those today that have not been cleansed by the BLOOD of Jesus. In Exodus the blood of a pure lamb or goat forbid death from entering the home. Today, the blood of Jesus is what saves us from death. But the reality is there are people that do not have the Blood of Jesus covering them. And just like in Exodus, death entered their home and they were not saved from it. Without the blood of Jesus, there will be families that will not be saved from eternal death.

It compelled me to keep a heart for the lost. I have family and friends that are not covered by the BLOOD! We must continue to fight in prayer and keep an evangelistic spirit to be an extension of God’s love!

Easter is the easiest time to get people to come to church and hear the message of salvation! Let’s keep our fire for the lost and reach out to those not covered by the BLOOD of Jesus. There is no other name like Jesus!!
