DAY 7 – Why Are You Weeping? It’s Time to Move On!

Today’s Challenge: Write a letter to a prison inmate

Today’s Prayer Target: Growth in faith as a church; to be a people that allow whatever we face to grow and build us; and that we do not hold back.

Daily Bible Reading: John 20:1-18

Mary Magdalene was a woman who was possessed by seven demons that tormented her. At some point of her life Mary met Jesus and was delivered by the master! Mary became a prominent follower of Jesus, and was the leader of other women who followed Jesus as well. Mary was able to witness key events in Jesus’ life. She followed him from the moment he delivered her to that special moment when he rose from the dead!

There are so many qualities that Mary obtained and here are just a few:

1. She was grateful:

Mary was filled with gratitude for Jesus because nothing else could change her state of mind. When she was delivered she experienced a peace that passed all understanding. Jesus blessed her life and she passionately served Him with a grateful heart. She could never forget where she came from and never turn back!

2.  She gave out of her means:

Luke 8:1-3 After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him,  and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out; Joanna the wife of Chuza, the manager of Herod’s household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to support them out of their own means.

These women loved Jesus so much they wanted to honor him and they did by giving their all. We have heard Sister Georgina say, “We need to be women who give of our time, talent and treasures.” As United Women in Ministry, we are a financial support base to world missions. Remember we must go from the mission to the missionary; the next generation is counting on us!

3.  She was steadfast:

Luke 9:62 Jesus replied, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”

As we continue to walk with God and build his kingdom there will be many trials that we will go through but we MUST continue to look forward and rise above our challenges. Just like our mama Sister Julie said, “Thanking God at the end of our trial is gratitude, but thanking God during our trial is faith!” We must learn how to endure and be unwavering women. We can’t keep running back to worldly things in hard times, but must press on forgetting those things that are behind us!!

John 20:15 He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?”

Jesus wants us to move forward and tell the good news that he is alive and has the power to change any life! Let’s be those women who give of our time, talent, and treasures, filled with gratitude, generosity, and steadfastness!

Love you all,

Christy, Cindy & April

This is so true ladies! We aren’t the mission anymore and we need to be sowers and wise stewards of time, finances and talents in order to fulfil our calling from the most high! I pray one of the things that we grow in during this fast is giving. Especially for myself, it’s great to know that when you give it will come back, but selfless giving…giving because you know it will bless someone and expecting to gain nothing…just imagine the poser in that! Great post!
